A taste of crofting life
While staying at The Captain’s Place, you’ll have the unique chance to look after your very own mini flock of hens—housed in a charming replica barn just outside your door. These girls lay around four fresh eggs a day, and they’re all yours to collect and enjoy. Whether you fancy a soft-boiled breakfast or some home baking, it doesn’t get fresher than this.
Meet your feathered friends
Your little flock includes Billy (pictured), a blue Wyandotte cockerel who’s as gentle as he is handsome—hand-reared and full of character. He’s joined by El, a half-blind Rhode Rock hen with a brave heart and a backstory of survival, plus three lovely ladies we hatched right here on the croft.
Hosting the hens during your stay is totally optional—just let us know when you book if you’d like their company (and their eggs). They’re a charming addition to the experience… and surprisingly good listeners.
