From Ruin to Retreat
What now stands as The Captain’s Place was once a forgotten stone barn—exposed to the wind, weather, and time. But even in its most tumbledown state, we saw something worth saving.
We didn’t bring in a team. Just the two of us, working side by side, slowly bringing it back to life. It wasn’t a chore — we genuinely loved the process. Every beam and wall tells a story, and we did our best to let the building speak for itself, keeping the essence of a traditional Scottish croft house wherever we could.
This video somewhat captures the journey: the dust, the graft, the quiet progress, and the joy of watching something beautiful re-emerge.
🪵 Take a look behind the scenes and walk through the transformation step by step. We hope you feel the care in every corner when you stay.
